The first step of forming the Cannanore O&G Society was taken in the year 1995, when a group of dedicated gynaecologists, led by the vibrant Dr. PV George and Dr. Mohammed Ali started the Cannanore OBG Club. In the year 2000, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Saffiya Shah, the club became a Society. The society has proven it’s organizational efficiency by successfully conducting 3 AKCOG Conferences in 2006, 2013 and 2022. In 2014, under the leadership of Dr. Gopeenathan P and Dr. Mini BK, it got itself registered as a Society and also started a charitable trust under its name. In 2015, the then President Dr. Suchitra Sudhir, with her secretary Dr. Beena K got all members affiliated to KFOG and FOGSI. Since then, it has steadily grown over time, both in strength and quality. The society has received various National recognitions for it’s flagship projects for Adolescent Health, Women’s Health, Cancer Prevention & Health of differently abled children. The fact that Cannanore society has been in news for all the good reasons, is a recognition of the team work under the efficient leadership of vibrant teams of President, Secretary and Treasurer over the years. Since 2017 it has been receiving the KFOG Best Society Award (Category B - 150 members) every year ,under the leadership of past Presidents Dr. Mini Balakrishnan, Dr. Shyjus P & Dr. Geetha Mekoth & Secretaries Dr. Shyjus P, Dr. Simi Kurian & Dr. Bhavya A B respectively .The present team of President- Dr. Beena K, Secretary- Dr. Kaushik Vailaya & Treasurer - Dr. Thufail V B have taken the legacy forward and we are now a vibrant society with 175 members, growing ourselves to Category A Society from 2026 onwards.
